Individualized Obedience Training
LATIGO K9 offers both public and private obedience classNamees at our facility in Nosara, Costa Rica. We also offer obedience training for all types of dogs off-site and at home upon request.
Obedience and agility form the foundation bond between handler and dog. We find the problem isn't always with the dog, it's in the communication of the handler. That's why our training focus is on working with the handler to give them the communication skills they need in order to work more effectively with their dog.
LATIGO K9 Obedience and Boarding Package
BASIC TRAINING
In this two week intensive, your dog will learn the basic six commands; sit, stay, heal, lay down, come and no.
This Package includes upon pick-up of your dog, a one-hour 'human training' session to get you and your family up to speed with your dog's new skill set.
ADVANCED TRAINING
Building upon our basic training, your dog will master more extensive commands along with off-lead obedience.

Personalized Boarding
LATIGO K9 offers short and long term boarding at our 2 hectare training facility in Nosara, Costa Rica.
Our knowledgable, on-site staff will care for your dog as if it were their own. While your dog will enjoy free play at designated times through out the day, you may opt for The LATIGO K9 Obedience and Boarding Package.

K9 Transport Service
Within Costa Rica, we offer pick-up and delivery to/from our facility in Nosara. Shuttles are air-conditioned, licensed and insured. For the safety of the driver and the K9, all dogs must be transported in a kennel. Contact us for pricing and reservations.
Frequent Questions
We use positive reinforcement training on a daily basis, without the use of rewards or treats where your pet will learn to understand instructions.
He will be able to understand and execute 8 instructions through the commands used in his training, walk with his owner correctly, correct bad behavior, behave with people, interact with other dogs.

About Us
Communication is key and LATIGO K9 training is where it all begins
The care and training we invest in pets determines the behavioral changes we want to make. At LATIGO K9 we pride ourselves on the capabilities of the pets we train, we build the foundation for communication, patience and the natural working capacity of each dog, thus creating a much more stable pet.
There is no place for toys, jerks, and treats in our training. Our dogs work for guidance plain and simple. We focus on a stable family and companion pet that respects its owner's instructions.
How is the LATIGO K9 training method different?
Our training methods are different from 99% of what is out there because we do not believe that we are teaching our dogs anything new. We are simply communicating with our dogs to use their natural abilities for our benefit. We do this without the bribe of toys or treats. You'll see that there is no ego involved in what we do, which is a significant shift from saying "we teach our dogs to bite" or "we teach our dogs to track".
By removing our egos and refraining from imposing human psychology on our dogs, we are free to work with them in an unlimited capacity.
